Sirens were creatures in Greek mythology of half bird (terracotta bird) and half woman who lured sailors to destruction by the charm of their song. They were given wings from Demetris in order to find Persephone, their master, who had been kidnapped by Hades. Demetris ordered Persephone’s handmaidens to quickly find them and rescue her by flying and singing their song, that is why he gave them wings. Unfortunately, the handmaidens could not find her anywhere and Demetris anger condemned them to live forever as Sirens, far away singing their song, a song with the power to put body and soul into a state of fatal lethargy.

These beautiful and dangerous creatures, with their sweet song, impossible to resist, once heard, lured sailors to the rocky shores where they were instantly shipwrecked.
